Superintendent's Report*
Dr. Jason Perez highlighted the following achievements and announcements from Deer Creek in the last month:
- Deer Creek Elementary is celebrating its recognition as a PLC Promising Practice School, which highlights the team commitment to the PLC model and its emphasis on learning, a collaborative culture and a results orientation.
- The Deer Creek Schools Foundation completed its Safety Campaign, which funded the purchase of more than 850 door security devices to add an additional layer of protection at our school sites. These devices have been installed. Thank you, DCSF!
- We had another impressive arts festival earlier this month, which featured art from each of our schools, performances from our fine arts programs, and more. Thank you to the many art teachers that organized this outstanding event!
- Many of our student-athletes from swim, wrestling and basketball received conference and district awards this month. Take a look at all of these awards on our Athletics social media pages!
Recognition
The Board recognized three groups in April:
- Teacher Leader Development Academy: Cohort 2
- A group of teachers across the district who participated in a year-long program focused on how to be effective teacher leaders in our buildings
- Deer Creek Advisory Council
- A group of seniors from Deer Creek High School who participated in a year-long program, led by our Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, focused on professional growth and district development
- Deer Creek High School Boys Basketball
- 6A Boys Basketball State Champions
Hiring Updates
The board approved the hiring of all personnel listed on the Personnel Schedule. The board also approved the hiring of a new assistant principal for Deer Creek High School for the 2025-2026 school year, Gayla Bozarth. Mrs. Bozarth has a wealth of experience as an educator, serving in various administration, classroom and coaching roles. We are excited to welcome her to the Antler family!

- Approved a quote of $20,472.00 from The Art of Education University for a six-year Visual Arts curriculum adoption at Deer Creek High School, to be paid out of State Textbook Funds
- Approved a quote of $99,989.23 from Follett Content Solutions, LLC for library books for Knight Ridge Elementary, to be paid out of Bond Funds
- Approved a quote of $23,800.00 from Triple J Construction for demolishing and replacing the existing basketball court with concrete at Grove Valley Elementary, to be paid out of Activity and TSET Funds
