Superintendent's Report*
Dr. Perez provided the board with the following announcements:
- Congratulations to our student-athletes who signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college! We are proud of each student for the work it takes to reach the next level. We will have many other athletes sign throughout the remainder of the school year and look forward to recognizing them as well!
- Congratulations to our 2025-2026 Teachers of the Year! This is another outstanding class of educators who were recognized by their peers for their commitment to providing a high-quality education to their students.
- Last month, our Deer Creek Advisory Council participated in a great panel discussion with three of our Deer Creek legislators. We appreciate Representatives Nicole Miller and Crosswhite-Hader and Senator Thompson for taking the time to talk about what they are doing at the Capitol and to answer thoughtful questions from our students.
- The Deer Creek Schools Foundation hosted another successful Blue Tie Night in November! They raised $125,000, including nearly $30,000 to start their new legacy scholarship for Deer Creek High School students.
- Over the last couple of months, we’ve received numerous large donations from local churches and businesses to support our Comfort Closet. As a result, the closet has been open weekly for families and staff in our community who may need assistance, especially this time of year. Our student services team has been working hard to keep this stocked and staffed. What a great service this is to many in our district!
- One of our middle schoolers started something pretty cool this semester! In an 8th-grade girls' restroom, she put a variety of hygiene products for other girls to use. Then, other girls saw it and started donating to keep it stocked. They are doing a great job looking out for one another in this way! This is definitely showing the Antler Way.
- Congratulations to these three high school students, Kane West, Hannah LeVene, Braxon Vess, for being named to the OKMEA Jazz All-State band! This prestigious honor shows their hard work is paying off.
