November 10, 2025 Board Highlights

Superintendent's Report*

Dr. Perez provided the board with the following announcements: 

1. Chief Information Officer Dr. Scott Haselwood was named Outstanding Technology Leader of the Year by the Oklahoma Society for Technology in Education 
2. Katy Disselhorst was named Cheer All State and All Region; Kendall McGaugh and Riley King were named Cheer All Region 
3. We had an outstanding showing of students who auditioned and were selected to the CODA Honor Bands this year. 
4. Landry Key was named Volleyball First All Team All Conference and Kelsi Wilson, Amiyah St. Anne and Kamrym Jackson were named honorable mention. 
5. We have two community events happening on Saturday: Deer Creek Business Association's Fall Festival from 4-6:30 p.m. at DCIS and the Native American Heritage Celebration at the PAAC from 5-7:30 p.m. This event features a special performance from Lil Mike and Funnybone. Both events are free and open to the public! 

Presentations

• The board recognized the Deer Creek High School's Boys Cross Country team for their back-to-back-to-back state championship win this year. 
• Dr. Cordell Ehrich, chief financial officer, presented the 2025-2026 budget to the board. 
• Jeff Johnon, chief operations officer, provided the board with an operations update. 
• Robert Feinberg, transportation director, updated the board on the state of the transportation department this year.

Hiring Updates

The board approved the hiring of all personnel listed on the Personnel Schedule. 

Board Actions*

• Approved new Board Policy F-45 (Support Employee Reduction in Force)

  • Establishes a protocol in the event a support employee reduction in force is necessary

• Approved changes to the policy C-8 (Open Records Act)

  • Establishes the requirement that requestors utilize the online form to submit their open records requests

• Approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Deer Creek Public Schools and Rosalind Karlin to establish and support a district BMX team

• Approved separate resolutions authorizing the calling and holding of a special election to be held in the Deer Creek School District to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds. 

  • We will hold a bond election on Feb. 10, 2026, for the following projects: Deer Creek High School building updates and expansion, performing arts expansion, indoor field enclosure, elementary playground enhancements and an operations/transportation warehouse.
