Superintendent's Report

Dr. Jason Perez shared the following comments with the board:

Deer Creek hosted its annual Veterans Day parade on Monday, November 11. It had so many participants that it ran nearly two miles long! Thank you to the many participants and schools who made this parade possible. Thank you to our community's many veterans and their families for their service!
Congratulations to the Deer Creek Middle School cheer team for winning 6A Game Day State and Grand Champion! We hope to officially recognize them at a board meeting soon.
Deer Creek is excited to announce an upcoming event celebrating and honoring Native American culture. This was a great event last year that included activities for the whole family. We hope you will make plans to join us on Thursday, November 14th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at DC45 for this annual Native American Heritage Celebration.
Deer Creek Orchestra held its first concert in district history in October, under the director of Kimberly Banz. Our 75 orchestra students from DCIS, DCMS and DCHS have been working tirelessly since the first day of school, and to hold a concert this soon after the start of a new program is truly impressive!
Two weeks ago, DCHS staff and students had the opportunity to nominate and vote on a teacher that goes the "extra yard." The College Football Playoff Foundation recognizes teachers for their hard work and dedication to their school community. We are proud of Mr. Heath Beeby, who was selected as this year's Extra Yard teacher at DCHS. Mr. Beeby is a science teacher and E-Sports coach. Beeby was recognized at last week's football game and received a trophy, shirt and Donor's Choose gift card. All prizes were provided by the College Football Playoff Foundation.
Stan Green, DC board member, was recognized as the Bob Moore Patriot of the Game at an University of Oklahoma game against South Carolina in October! Thank you for your service, Mr. Green.

Presentations

Chief Financial Officer Dr. Cordell Ehrich provided his annual financial report and allowed for time for questions from the public. The information shared in this report can be found on the Finance page.
District Athletic Director Bill Bays and Head Coach David Riden congratulated the Deer Creek High School Boys Cross Country team for recently winning the 6A State Championship.
Coffee Creek Church Pastor Clark Frailey presented a donation of $4,500 for the Deer Creek Comfort Closet. Thank you to the entire Coffee Creek Church for this generous donation to support the growth of the Comfort Closet in the years to come!
Assistant Superintendent Kristy VanDorn and Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction Mark Phillips provided an update on the curriculum efforts of our district this school year. You can view this presentation via the live stream on our YouTube channel.
