Lucia Frohling and her husband, Chip, have been married for 17 years and members of the Deer Creek community for 12 years. They are the proud parents of three beautiful children, two of which have unique educational needs. In addition to teaching in both rural and suburban districts in Texas, Lucia was a managing partner of a large business in the oil and gas industry for over 5 years, before taking a step back to work in Human Resources (as a SHRM-Certified Professional) and spend more time with her family. She joined the team at an education non-profit (Every Kid Counts Oklahoma) one year ago. She has volunteer substitute taught in multiple districts and holds a current Oklahoma teaching certificate. Lucia is a certified Master IEP Coach® who works with families across Oklahoma access resources and opportunities for their special needs children.


Lucia currently serves on the Boards of Payne Education Center and The STEAM Engine, both of whom train teachers and serve students. She has been an active member of various Deer Creek PTO and Parent Groups for the last 8 years, including starting the parent-led initiative that led to structured literacy training for all elementary general education, 4th - 6th grade ELA, and Special Education teachers, as well as Reading Specialists. Lucia and her family attend Acts 2 United Methodist Church.


Lucia is focused on building a community of collaboration with our parents, teachers & staff, and community to strengthen our Deer Creek community. Serving as a bridge, listening and learning while being a resource is a top priority because Lucia knows that we are BETTER TOGETHER!

Scott Hasson

Scott Hasson is a successful businessman and experienced professional who is running for a seat on the Deer Creek School Board. With a background in negotiating and managing millions of dollars in contracts, Scott brings strong financial acumen to the table. He is a fiscally conservative candidate who believes in responsible budgeting and maximizing resources for the benefit of students.

 

Scott has previously served as a school board member in San Diego, where he gained valuable experience in education policy and administration. He is deeply committed to improving educational opportunities for all students and is passionate about implementing evidence-based practices that support student learning and success.  In Scott’s time as a school board member, he was instrumental in helping the school gain the California Distinguished designation for student excellence and achievement.

 

As a father to a student in the Deer Creek district, Scott has a personal stake in the success of the local schools. Scott coaches flag football and basketball in the community. He is currently an elected member and treasurer of the Deer Creek Fire District.  And has been directly involved in sourcing a new fire station and fire engines/equipment for the department.

 

He is committed to being a strong advocate for the students, teachers, and parents of Deer Creek and will work tirelessly to ensure that the district is providing the best possible education for its students. If elected to the school board, Scott will bring his experience, dedication, and financial expertise to the table to help move the district forward.

Kelli Lay

Kelli is married to Brent Lay and they have been Deer Creek community members for 20 years.  Kelli and Brent have two daughters who have attended Deer Creek schools since their Pre-K year. 

 

Kelli attended the University of Oklahoma receiving both a bachelors degree in psychology and a masters degree in organizational change and development.  She started her career with the Hertz Corporation.  Kelli has spent the last 18 years as senior vice president of Irish Companies currently specializing in college campus solutions and conflict resolution.  In 2017, Kelli and her partners opened StellaNova, local coffee shops that serve as gathering places for communities. She is currently CEO of the company.

 

In addition to her love for family and career, Kelli has a passion for community service.  She currently serves the Deer Creek community as School Board President and has also held positions of Vice President and Clerk.  As a school board member, Kelli has guided Deer Creek through the teacher strike in 2018, redistricting, the pandemic, new building construction, growth strategies, hiring a new superintendent and bond issues.  Kelli has served on the Deer Creek Redistricting, Bond and Finance committees and has been active at the school sites as a PTO officer, Deer Creek Arts Treasurer, Hospitality Committee member for DCES, DCPV and DCIS, DCIS and DCMS Adopt a Teacher Coordinator and workroom volunteer.  

 

At her local church, Kelli volunteered in Children's Ministries for 14 years as a worship leader for elementary students.  She also served on the Leadership Appointment Committee, VBS Director. and led story time for Hannah's Promise, a respite program for children with special needs.   Within the community, Kelli has served on the board of Heartline, a suicide prevention outreach, and as Vice President of the Board of Citizens Caring for Children, a non-profit serving Oklahoma foster children.
