Please note:  If you receive a background check for certification, the SDE will require another background check for employment purposes.

The following DO NOT qualify for dual purposes:

  • Individual who is already assigned a teacher number (current or expired).
  • Individual who has a current certification background check on file (within a year of applying for certification).
  • Individual who has completed a current employment background check within the last year.
