Transportation

All parents/guardians of bus riders should download the My Ride K-12 app to view bus routes and tracking information. Parents/guardians will need to re-add their students to their My Ride K-12 account.

Due to the growing size of our district, we are increasing the parent transport zone to one mile. There are exceptions including homes and housing additions that do not have sidewalk access or have to cross a major street.

Routes will be ready to view on the My Ride K-12 app in August, before school starts.

Information for car riders and walkers will be communicated by the principals of each school ahead of the first day. If you received a car tag last school year, please discard them. All car riders will receive new car tags and student tags each school year.

Introducing ParentSquare

We are excited to announce that Deer Creek School District is in the process of moving toward using a new form of secure school-to-home communication called ParentSquare beginning summer 2025.

Once fully implemented, Deer Creek district and school, grade level, athletics, emergency notifications, and classroom information will be sent to you via email and/or text through ParentSquare.

Parents and guardians will engage using the ParentSquare App and secondary students (7th to 12th) will use the StudentSquare App. Both apps are free through your device’s app store. Downloading the app is not required to receive communication, however, it is recommended.

Please note: Some classroom communication will still be sent via the Canvas Learning Management System and Infinite Campus during the school year.

If your student is participating in an DC-affiliated summer program like band, athletics, etc., you may start to receive ParentSquare notifications soon, and you will be invited to create an account.  Everyone else will begin to receive information about ParentSquare from their principals in July.

This unified communications platform will keep parents and guardians informed quickly and encourage greater engagement and connection with your student(s) school. ParentSquare provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, coaches, staff, and parents to:

  • Send and receive school & class information
  • Share pictures & files
  • See calendar items & sign-up to volunteer
  • Schedule parent-teacher conferences & more, all in one centralized place!

We appreciate your assistance through this process and look forward to continued excellence in connectivity with our families.

To Get Started

  • Download the ParentSquare App (available on IOS and Android) or visit parentsquare.com/signin

  • Register your account. You must use your email listed as the primary contact in Infinite Campus.

  • Confirm your contact and child information.

  • Confirm your notification preferences.

    • Click My Account

    • Click Notification Settings

    • Determine how often you want to receive notifications. If you select digest, you will receive one email, text, or push notification a day with a list of all messages sent during that day. If you select instant, you will immediately receive each message.

Communication

Emails

Deer Creek administrators regularly email our parents/guardians, including a weekly newsletter sent from each school and the district. If you believe you are not receiving these messages once the school year starts, please double-check your contact preferences and information in Infinite Campus. If you continue to have issues, contact your school site.

Social Media

Be sure to follow us on social media to stay updated on the great things happening in our schools:

Annual Reminders

Deer Creek School District utilizes a broadcast messaging and notification system to communicate with families. There are three channels within the system: phone call, email and text message.

It is imperative that parents review their communication preferences in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to ensure their contact information is correct. In the event you believe you are not receiving our district or school emails, please double check the information on your Parent Portal and contact your child’s school site for assistance.

Crisis communications are usually tiered; the first communication briefly summarizes the situation and follow-up communications provide more details, if necessary and/or appropriate. Communications are usually only sent to the school(s) affected. We will also use social media to communicate emergency messages if needed, only after and in addition to our mass notifications via phone call, text, and email.

Communications do not share discipline details for the individuals involved, as we are obligated to protect the rights and privacy of our students and staff due to state and federal privacy laws.

Generally, we do not send broadcast messages for student medical emergencies, fire/tornado drills, or other situations where there is no threat to student or staff safety. First responder presence at a building does not necessarily indicate an emergency. Our first responders visit our schools regularly for drills, training, classroom visits, and more.
