December 9, 2024 Board Highlights
Superintendent's Report*
Dr. Jason Perez updated the board on the following achievements in Deer Creek over the last month:
- Our 2024-2025 Teachers of the Year were announced. We look forward to formally recognizing them at a banquet in February.
- Grady Adamson and Mason Smith signed letters of intent to continue their football career after graduation. Adamson signed with Georgia Tech University and Smith signed with the United States Military Academy West Point.
- Arya, a Grove Valley third grader, recently became the youngest Oklahoman in history to reach Class A in chess.
- DCHS Drama Teacher Riley Turner was named a University of Central Oklahoma College of Education Outstanding Mentor Teacher.
- For the first time in program history, Deer Creek advanced to the semi-finals at the Bands of America Grand National Championships, finishing with a 28th overall placement and earning ninth place in Class 3A.
- Lynsey Coleman, PE Teacher at Grove Valley, was named the Oklahoma Elementary PE Teacher of the Year.
New Hires
The board approved the hiring of all personnel listed on the Personnel Schedule.
Board Actions*
- Approved all items on the consent agenda
- Approved the FY24 Audit prepared by S&B CPA’s and Associates, PLLC.
- Approved the quote from KI for $675,912.00 for furniture for Knight Ridge Elementary, to be paid out of Bond Funds
- Approved the quote from Heartland Seating for $59,608.00 for transportable bleachers, to be paid out of Activity and Bond Funds
- This will relocate the band during home football games to the scoreboard side endzone, creating additional open seats in the home side bleachers for spectators.
- Convened in executive session to discuss the ongoing evaluation of and the contractual terms of the Superintendent
