Ashley Mackey Named Deer Creek High School Principal
The Deer Creek Board of Education named Ashley Mackey the new head principal of Deer Creek High School.
Mrs. Mackey is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a secondary teaching bachelor's degree, Arkansas State University with a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and University of Central Oklahoma, with a master's degree in educational leadership.
She has served in various roles, including as a special education paraprofessional, middle school social studies and gifted and talented teacher, grant coordinator, department leader, board member for the Oklahoma Council for Social Studies and assistant principal.
Mrs. Mackey has worked for Deer Creek School District for the past 8 years (since 2016) as a teacher and assistant principal at the middle and high school levels. While at Deer Creek High School, she has been an administrator for 9th-10th grade, the math department and special education.
She has received several recognitions in and outside of the classroom, including Luther Middle School Teacher of the Year, Deer Creek Middle School Teacher of the Year, National History Day Teacher of the Year and National Association of Secondary School Principals Oklahoma Assistant Principal of the Year.
Mrs. Mackey has spent the past 14 years working in public education, building connections and helping find unique pathways to success for staff and students. She is passionate about the working being done in Deer Creek and will undoubtedly lead Deer Creek High School to continued success. Mrs. Mackey will officially transition to head principal in July 2024.
