DCHS Junior Sam Beasley’s first solo flight
An Aviation 2 student in Madame Blunk’s class last year, Sam started flight training this summer at a flight school at Wiley Post Airport. Unlike learning to drive a car, student pilots fly by themselves, once proficient enough, as part of their private pilot training before earning a pilot certificate. This significant milestone is one that every pilot remembers and is often marked by the cutting of the student’s shirttails as a symbol of the student’s independence as a solo aviator. We are extremely proud of Sam and we look forward to following his flying future!
