Deer Creek School Presents First Orchestra Concert in District History

EDMOND, OK - The Deer Creek School District is proud to announce the first-ever concert by the Deer Creek Orchestra Program, scheduled for 7 p.m. on October 29, 2024, at the Deer Creek Performing Arts and Athletic Center (20795 N MacArthur Blvd, Edmond, OK 73012). This concert will mark a historic milestone and the official debut of the district’s orchestra program.

"We are thrilled to bring the Deer Creek orchestra program to life for our students," said Deer Creek School District Superintendent Dr. Jason Perez. "Our families and community expressed the desire to see an orchestra program in our schools, and we are proud to see this shared vision realized this school year. We look forward to watching these students grow, develop their musical talents and inspire our community along the way.”

Under the direction of Kimberly Banz, Deer Creek’s orchestra students have been working tirelessly since the first day of school. The program currently includes nearly 75 students between sixth and twelfth grades. In just three months, the students have made remarkable progress and are ready to showcase a selection of pieces that highlight all they have learned.

"Our students have embraced this opportunity with incredible enthusiasm and dedication," said Banz, Director of Orchestras. “It is inspiring to witness their growth and commitment to the music. This inaugural concert will be a memorable moment, not only for our students but for the entire Deer Creek community, as we celebrate the beginning of something truly special."

Community members, families and students are encouraged to attend and support these musicians and celebrate the launch of this program. The event is free to the public.
